This tune came out of feelings of uncertainty and doubt during my first winter living in Chicago after leaving Champaign-Urbana - a season of little progress for me musically as I was trying to figure out how to survive and navigate a new, much larger city. Fundamentally a melancholy waltz, the long melody statement gives way to a conversation between the alto and tenor saxophones over a rhythm section vamp. The out-head is almost completely reorchestrated from the in-head before finishing triumphantly with the original melody over the vamp from the solo section.

Limited edits are available as part of the purchase price, though I retain full discretion over whether the edits are significant enough to constitute a rewrite or are too much of change from the original.

This is a recording of a sextet version of the tune, but it still has roughly the same structure as the nonet version.
